frequently asked questions

What do we wear?!

Thinking about what to wear can be daunting, but take a deep breath. For me, what you're wearing is the least important part of our session. I want you to wear something that feels GOOD to you. Something that feels comfortable, allows for movement, and enables your confidence to shine through. All I ask is that you don't all wear the same thing (matchy matchy is distracting in photos) and that you don't wear clothing with large lettering, characters, and competing prints.  Pops of color are great. Feel free to bring a change of outfit, accessories (hats, scarves, sunglasses, etc), and fun clothes for the kiddos (think dress up, capes, pajamas- whatever you kid really LOVES to wear).  You are always welcome to text me with pictures or questions. I'm here to help!

but my kid *never* sits for pictures! what do we do?

Well, duh! Kids are meant to be wild. Toddlers and kids can be crazy- FUN! And we want them to be that way during the session. It allows me to capture who they are, not just a stiff, formal version of themselves. During family sessions, we'll let them explore, let them play, and let them be kids!  I promise we will get great shots of your kiddos smiling at the camera- but it will be because they *want* to be smiling, not because we've forced them to.

And those beautiful newborns. I intentionally schedule extra time for these sessions to allow for naps (for any of you), feeding (for any of you), diaper changes (hopefully just for the bab(ies), but who am I to judge?) and any other surprises that may come our way. Just try to relax and enjoy the time with your family (and your new friend, me!).

how should we prepare our home?

No major prep necessary! In-home shoots are relaxed and fun, and I will capture your family doing the things you love to do together as they unfold. With that being said, de-clutter a space or two for us to get you comfy- ideally a bedroom and/or an area with floor space or a couch. Where is the most natural light? I'll probably want you there! Think of the spaces that your family has the most unbridled fun- baking in the kitchen? Splashing in the bath? Playing dress up in the closet? We'll get those, too!

**A note for newborn sessions- newborn babies need to feel extra cozy, especially as we'll be changing their clothes and moving them around. In warmer months, turn off the AC before I arrive and in cooler months, turn up the heat. Warmth makes baby happy and calm, and that will allow for you to be happy and calm, too! And that brings us to...

anything special we should know for newborn sessions?

Know that we will be taking the lead from your sweet baby. Newbies make the rules, and we're just here for the ride. As I mentioned above, allow your home to be slightly warmer so that we can change the baby without disturbing them. If you'd like sleeping baby photos, try to put the baby down before I arrive. Lay baby down in a space wherever you hope to start our session and have them dressed in a diaper (and cover if you want) and wrap them in a blanket. And we'll go from there! I intentionally schedule lots of time to account for feeding, pooping, and melting down, so try to relax and be in the moment.

When should we schedule Fresh 48 + Newborn photos?

If you're interested in any of the newborn packages I offer (Fresh 48, Newborn, Newborn bundle, or First Year), please reach out to me during your second trimester of pregnancy. I only have a certain number of these sessions available each season and they fill up quickly! Fresh 48 sessions take place during the first 48 hours of your baby's life, while newborn sessions are scheduled one to three weeks post birth.

Kind words about me

Arielle did an amazing job with our newborn! She has a comfortable, natural style when giving direction, and was super flexible to work around Astrid's needs (feeding, fussing, etc). We got our pictures back very quickly, without losing any quality. We are so pleased with how they came out, and the overall experience! - MY
Arielle did a great job capturing pix of my kids- pics I know they would never produce for me. She was excellent with my 4 year old daughter who was hot and sweaty... and usually doesn't stop moving. Arielle kept it going- and was great keeping the kids interested and posing- all the while snapping away. The spot she picked was beautiful. Her direction was very laid back, and she went with the flow of the kids wandering around the park. She also was great on sharing the pix very quickly. Total Pro. Thanks Ari :) - MR
Arielle is so easy to work with and we got beautiful photos! I loved seeing sneak peeks the same day! Will definitely use her again in the future! - JS
Beautiful pictures, beautiful location and great ideas for poses. Thank you so much we had so much fun!! - TD
